Whip Mix Mounting Stone is an ISO Type 3 very hard, fast-setting gypsum material formulated expressly for mounting casts to articulators. Its very low setting expansion (0.08%) prevents inaccuracies in occlusal cast relationships that can occur with conventional model stone or plaster, and it can also be used as a model stone when a rapid set is required. It offers excellent stacking qualities while flowing freely under slight pressure during its 2–3 minute working time, with a 5-minute set and high compressive strength (4,600 psi wet / 8,500 psi dry).
